Privacy Policy
Last updated 14 October 2026
This policy explains what personal data 1500prep (“we”, “us”) collects when you use 1500prep.com, why, who else processes it, and what you can ask us to do with it. We decide how this data is used, which makes us its controller. Write to hello@1500prep.com about anything here. The rules for using the service are in the Terms of Service.
1.In short
- We store what you need to practise: your account, your worksheets and your answers.
- We don't sell personal data, show advertising, or track you on other sites.
- Card details go to Polar, our payment provider, and never reach us.
- The follow-up chat is not stored.
- You can have your account and everything in it deleted at any time.
2.What we collect
Your account. Your name, email address and password (stored only as a hash, never readable), the account type you chose at sign-up, and, if you set one, your target score.
Your practice. The worksheets you start or are given, each answer you submit, whether it was right, when you answered, and the results built from them: your question types, your weak areas and your streak.
Students added by a tutor. The name, and if the tutor enters them, an email address, a target score and a note. Such a student works from a private link and gives us no email or password of their own.
Signing in with Google. If you choose to sign in with Google, Google gives us your name, your email address and your profile picture, and confirms that the address is yours. We use them only to create and run your account. We never receive your Google password and cannot see anything else in your Google account. Our use of information received from Google follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements.
Billing. If you buy a plan, Polar tells us your customer and subscription numbers, which plan you have, its status, the number of seats and when access ends. We do not receive card numbers.
Messages to us. Whatever you send to hello@1500prep.com.
Technical data. A cookie that keeps you signed in. Your IP address, used for short-lived counters that stop the service being overloaded, and recorded in our hosting providers' security logs. Visits are counted with privacy-friendly analytics that sets no cookies and keeps no IP address: which pages are visited, the site or campaign link a visit came from, the country, and the type of device and browser, all counted in total rather than per person. There is no advertising software on the site.
How you found us. When you sign up, we keep the campaign tags on the address of the sign-up page (such as “utm_source=tiktok”) and the name of the website that linked you to it, if there was one, so we can tell which of our posts and links bring people who stay.
Not stored. What you type into the follow-up chat is sent to Anthropic to write the reply and is not saved by us; it is gone when you close the page. We count how many messages you have sent today, without their content, to apply the daily limit.
3.How we use it
- to run your account and the service: build worksheets, check answers, show results;
- to show a tutor the work of the students on their list, and a linked student their own record;
- to give you the plan you paid for;
- to send emails the service needs, such as confirming your address or resetting a password;
- to keep the service safe and working, and to apply its limits;
- to improve the question bank, using answer statistics across all users to find questions that are faulty or labelled at the wrong difficulty;
- to answer you when you write to us, and to meet legal obligations.
4.Our legal grounds
Where a data protection law requires a legal ground for using personal data, we rely on these:
- Performing our contract with you: your account, your practice and its results, the plan you bought, and the emails the service needs.
- Our legitimate interests: keeping the service secure, preventing abuse, improving the question bank from statistics across users, and counting, in total, how people find and use the site. You can object to this (section 9).
- Legal obligations: keeping the records the law requires, such as those of a purchase.
- Your consent, where we ask for it, for example to send news or marketing emails if we ever do. You can withdraw it at any time.
5.Who else processes it
These kinds of service provider process data on our behalf, only to provide their part of the service. Nothing is sold or shared with anyone else, except where the law requires it.
Service What it does Hosting and database Store the database, handle sign-in and run the website. Our database is hosted in the European Union. AI provider (Anthropic) Writes questions and explanations, and answers the follow-up chat. It receives the topic and difficulty asked for, the question being worked on, and what you type into the chat. It never receives your name, your email or your results. Email delivery Sends account emails, such as the sign-up confirmation and password resets. Payments (Polar) Takes payments as merchant of record. Polar decides how it handles purchase data and is responsible for it under its own privacy policy. Website analytics Counts visits to the site in total, without cookies. It receives the address of the page (with private links shortened, so no access link or code is sent), the site that linked to it, and your browser's IP address and type, which it uses only to tell one day's visitors apart and does not store. Hosted in the European Union. Graphing calculator Provides the on-screen calculator, which your browser loads from its provider when you open it. Some of these providers process data outside the country you live in. Where the law requires it, the transfer is protected by the provider's data processing terms and by contractual safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
6.Tutors and their students
A tutor sees the worksheets, answers and results of the students on their list. A student who joins a tutor's list from an invitation has their own record merged into the tutor's, so both see the same complete history; the tutor then sees the student's own practice as well as what the tutor assigned. Joining is only ever done by the student accepting the invitation.
7.How long we keep it
- Your account and practice record: for as long as the account exists.
- When you ask us to delete your account, we delete it and everything in it within 30 days. Copies in backups disappear as the backups expire.
- Follow-up chat messages: not kept at all.
- Purchase records: kept by Polar for as long as tax law requires, under its own privacy policy.
- Security logs: kept by our hosting providers for their usual short periods.
Questions written for you may stay in the question bank after your account is deleted, without anything that links them to you.
8.Students under 18
1500prep is for SAT students, most of whom are 16 to 18. You must be at least 13 to use it, and under 18 you use it with a parent or guardian who has agreed to the terms. We collect only what practice needs and nothing for advertising. A parent or guardian can write to hello@1500prep.com to see, correct or delete their student's data.
9.Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask us to:
- give you a copy of your personal data, including in a portable format;
- correct data that is wrong;
- delete your data;
- limit how we use it, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
- withdraw consent you have given.
Write to hello@1500prep.com from the email address on the account. We answer within 30 days, and may ask you to confirm who you are first. You can also complain to the data protection authority of your country; we would rather hear from you first.
10.Security
Data is encrypted in transit. The database only lets each account reach its own students and their work, passwords are stored as hashes, and a tutor can reset a student link at any time. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affects you, we will tell you and the authorities as the law requires.
12.Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes too. If a change affects how your data is used, we will tell you by email or in the app before it takes effect.
13.Contact
Everything about your data goes to hello@1500prep.com.
